You create locations for carts based on your hospital needs, such as OR #1
, OR #2
, Pediatrics
, etc. Then, kits and trays are assigned to carts and dispatched
to those locations. This helps you to keep track of where medications are going, and therefore track medication usage by location.
You can change the location of a cart in three ways:
- During the Dispatch process
- From the Kits screen via the Inventory drop-down
- From the Carts screen via the Inventory drop-down
When you select a cart for the kit you can also change the cart's location. Be advised, if you change the cart's location here the location will also change for any kits currently assigned to that cart.
Change a Location During Dispatch
To change a location during a dispatch:
- Click on the latest scan from the Scan History drop-down.
- Select Assign to Location.
- Select the new location from the Edit Location drop-down.
- Click Save.
Change a Location from the Kits Screen
To change a location from the Kits screen:
- Click the Inventory tab.
- Select the kit master and associated cart whose location you want to change.
- Select the value in the Location column.
- In the Edit Location screen, select the Location where you want to assign to this cart.
- Click Save.
If the kit has an assigned Cart prior to changing the location then the kit will be removed from that cart when you reassign a location.
Change a Location from the Carts Screen
To change a location from the Carts screen:
- Hover over the Inventory tab.
- Select Carts.
- Select the cart you want to change locations.
- Select the value in the Location column.
- Select the new location from the Edit Location drop-down.
- Click Save.
