After you scan a kit or tray, you will see one of two screens:
- Scan complete
- Scan incomplete
Additionally, you can review a snapshot summary of details in the Scan Header, including:
- The total number of items scanned in the kit
- The type/name of the kit or tray
- The kit/tray ID
- The Scan History drop-down where you can see when the kit was last scanned and by whom
- Summary of how many items are extra, missing, expired, and near expiration
- A note of which item(s) in the kit expires next and when
- Banner notice of recalled or expired items
Scan Complete:
Congratulations! Everything in your kit matched the requirements for the Kit Master. There were no items that required notice, so you can dispatch the kit.
Scan Incomplete:
There are a few scenarios in which the kit might not scan neatly. You can toggle between the Scan Summary and Scan Details tabs to get more information.
Scan Summary Tab:
After the scan is finished but not completed neatly, the Summary tab outlines additional actions that are required to prepare the kit for dispatch.
- Items that are expired and should be removed
- Items that have been recalled
- Items that are expiring soon, based on the date rand in your hospital formulary
- Items with a quantity greater than expected
- Items missing relative to the number expected
- Items that are multi-dose
- An item present but not expected in the kit
- Unexpected items in scanning area!
- Items that are present but not expected are most likely due to medications in kits that have not been added to your formulary.
Correct the items listed on the summary page by adding, removing, or replacing them in the kit. Then place the kit back into the scanner and rescan. You can click Print Pick List to print a list of items that are missing or expired/expiring and need to be replaced. This is handy to save time going back and forth to double-check the list on the computer.
Scan Details Tab:
You can view details of the kit items by Segment from the Scan Details tab. The Scan Details tab combines the information from the Scan Summary page (like expired items, items expiring soon, and missing/extra items) and compiles them into a table sorted by segment for easy viewing.
View Historical Scans:
Use the Scan History drop-down to see the processing history for a single kit. Click the drop-down in the Scan Header to view the last five scans for this kit.
From this drop-down, you can view a list of past scans for this kit. If you click on the date and time links you can pull up the Scan Summary and Scan Details tabs for that scan. You can also Show All past scans for that kit and see the following information:
- Scan Date and Time
- Expired items
- Expiring items
- Missing items
- Extra items
