Any DIN that is being scanned in a particular tray type for the first time will have to be associated with the correct Segment in the Kit Master. A Segment is the line item in a tray/kit for a particular drug. Only users with Manager-level access in KitCheck can associate DINs to Segments.
How To
For this example, we will use the segment Furosemide 10 MG/ML. Since there are many different manufacturers that make this particular drug and each has a unique DIN number, you must tell the system which DINs qualify for which segment in order for the tray to scan correctly.
First, put the tray into the scanning station and press Scan.
The Scan Summary screen will now open. On the screen you will notice the new DINs show up in the Wrong Items section. You will also see that those items are listed as Missing Items on the screen.
This is because the DINs have not been associated with the correct segment yet.
To associate the Furosemide DIN to the segment, click Add to Kit for the DIN you want to add.
The Add Formulary Item to Segment window will pop up. From here, click on the drop-down menu and select the segment you want to add the DIN to.
To save the selection click on the Add to Segment button.
You will now see the DIN is no longer in the Missing Items section. The total number of missing items has also been reduced because you only need to perform the association once per DIN.
Continue this process with each DIN until you get the Kit completion screen.
